I-B-1. FADEVA ITALY SIBERT (1847 – 1918), daughter of Henry Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

Fadeva Italy Sibert was born on 23 March 1847 in Alabama. [1][2] She died on 27 May 1918 and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz, Marshall County, Alabama. [1][2] She married Asbury Woodville Beavers on 6 January 1867. [1][2] They divorced by 1900. Asbury was the son of Allen and Sarah Beavers. He was born on 5 May 1845 [3] or 1846 [1][2]. He died on 10 August 1910, probably in Tarrant County, Texas. [1][2] He is buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County. [2]

This family spelled their name both as Beavers and Beaver. Asbury was spelled in a variety of ways.

According to the census, in 1860 Asbury W., aged 14, lived with his parents, Allen and Sarah, in Lebanon, DeKalb County, Alabama. [3]

In 1870, Asbury Beavers, aged 22, and "Fidebia," aged 21, lived with their children, Rufus C., aged one and "Josephine," aged three months (the census was enumerated in June), in Collinsville, DeKalb County. Asbury was a farmer with real estate worth 200 dollars and a personal estate of 300 dollars. Fideva was "keeping school." [3]

In 1880, Woodville, aged 33, and Fideva, aged 32, lived in DeKalb County, Alabama with their children, Rufus C., aged 12; Ada E., aged ten; Christa, aged eight; Vida E., aged six; Lemuel A., aged four; and Bertha B., aged two, all born in Alabama. Woodville was a blacksmith and the three oldest children were students. [3] Woodville had 45 acres of improved land and 55 acres of woodland and forest, together valued at 500 dollars. He had two horses, two working oxen, two milch cows, two other cattle, seven swine and 20 poultry. He grew Indian corn, wheat, cotton, and sorghum and produced butter and eggs. [4]

In 1900, Fideva, born in March 1847, lived in Albertville, Marshall County, Alabama with her children, Ada E., born in December 1869, and Ernest E., born in October 1885. Fideva was a farmer and Ernest was a farm laborer. Fideva had had nine children and one [Veda] had died. In 1910, Fadeva, aged 63 and described as widowed, lived with daughter Ada, aged 36 and single, in Red Apple, now a ghost town, in Marshall County. They were seamstresses. Two of Fadeva's children [probably Veda and Ernest] had died. [3]

In 1900, Asberry, born in May 1845 in Alabama, was divorced and a patient at the Alabama State Hospital for the Insane in Tuscaloosa. In 1910, Asbery, aged 66, lived in Tarrant County, Texas, with his brother and sister, Wiley C. Beavers, aged 62, and Mahaly Crump, aged 70, who also appear with him in the 1860 census. All three of them are referred to as "widowed." Wiley and Asbery were farmers. [3]

Children of Asbury Woodville Beavers and Fadeva Italy Sibert:

I-B-1-a. Rufus Cornelius Beavers was born on 2 March 1868 in DeKalb County. [1][2] He died on 5 September 1938 in Boaz, Marshall county, Alabama, age 70. [2][5][6] He married first Mary F. Nunnally on 1 June 1898 in Spalding County, Georgia. [7] Mary was born on 23 June 1866 and died on 23 December 1902, aged 36. [2] She is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Spalding County. [2] Rufus married second, as her second husband, Helen (Kirby) Wright on 18 April 1905 in Etowah County, Alabama. [8] Helen was the daughter of William and Jarusa (Melton) King. [9] She was born on 17 November 1867 in Greensport, Alabama. [2][9] Helen Kirby Beaver of Orange, Texas, died on 15 July 1952, aged 84, in Orange. [2][9] She married first J.W. Wright on 4 November 1903. [10] Rufus and Helen are buried together in the Hillcrest Cemetery. [2]

In 1910 Rufus C, aged 43, and Helen, aged 43, lived in Red Apple, with their children [Helen's step-children], Anna, aged ten and born in Alabama, and Crandall, aged eight and born in Georgia. They had been married for five years; Helen had never had children. Rufus was a rural mail carrier. In 1920, Rufus C., aged 52, and Helen, aged 52, lived in Red Apple with their children, Anna N. aged 20, and R. Crandall, aged 18. Rufus was a rural mail carrier. In 1930 Rufus C., aged 62, and Helen, aged 63, lived in Red Apple. Rufus was a farmer. [3]

Rufus's obituary says he was survived by his wife, son Crandall, and daughter Anne. [5]

In 1850 Helen K. Beaver lived with her daughter Annie B. Bradley's family in Orange. [3]

Children of Rufus C. Beavers and Mary F. Nunnally:

I-B-1-b. Ada Elonza Beaver was born on 31 December 1869. [1][2] She died on 25 August 1918 in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. [2][14] She is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery. [2]

On 5 July 1918 Ada was declared insane and sent to the Alabama State Hospital for the Insane in Tuscaloosa. Her brothers L.A. and C.C. Beavers were witnesses. [15] She died soon after admission.

I-B-1-c. Flora Christina Beaver was born on 25 February 1872. [1] She died on 14 August 1947 in Boaz. [14] She married Walter Theodore Hicks on 28 April 1897 in Fulton County, Georgia. [7] Walter was the son of M.L. and Lizzie (Morris) Hicks. [16] He was born on 30 May 1871. [16] He died of cancer of the esophagus on 2 December 1934, age 63, in Atlanta. [16] He is buried in the Oxford Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama. [2]

According to his death certificate, Walter was a bookkeeper. [16]

In 1910, Walter T., aged 38, and Christina, aged 37, lived in Atlanta with their two children and Frances Sebert, aged 38, and born in Alabama. In 1930, Walter T., aged 58, and Christine F., aged 57, lived in Atlanta. Walter was a bookkeeper and Christine was a saleswoman at a corset company. [3]

I-B-1-d. Davida "Veda" Ella Beavers was born on 16 February 1874. [1][2] She died on 6 March 1896 and is buried in the Bangor Cemetery in Hayden, Blount County, Alabama. [2] She married Isaac Windsor on 28 September 1894 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. [17][18] Isaac was born on 15 March 1866 and died on 22 April 1933. [2] He is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. [2] He married first Oley J. McCleod. [2][19] He married third Nettie Washburn Tanner. [2]

Veda's gravestone says: [2]

Veda Beaver wife of Rev. Isaac Windsor born Feb. 16, 1874 died Mar. 6, 1896, age 22 yrs & 20 days.

Veda's obituary says her sister Miss Bertha Beaver was with her during her final illness, and her father, uncle, and sister, Miss Christine Beaver, arrived soon after. [18]

I-B-1-e. Lemuel Asbury Beaver was born on 12 August 1876 in Collinsville. [1][20, son of Woodville A. and Fadevia I. (Sibert) Beaver.] He died on 10 November 1947 in Alabama City. He married Hattie Virginia Parrish. She was born on 5 November 1878 in Dallas Pauld, Georgia. [20] She died on 15 or 21 April 1972 in Gadsden. [14][20] Lemuel and Hattie are buried together in the the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Lemuel and Hattie attended school through the sixth grade. [3]

Lemuel was short and stout with black hair and gray eyes. He was a farmer and a brick mason. [21]

In 1910, Lemuel, aged 33, and Hattie, aged 31 and born in Georgia, lived in Red Apple with their children Margie L., aged ten; Illa May, aged seven, Marthin A., aged four, and Nettie R., aged one. Lemuel and Nettie had had four children, and all were living. The children were born in Alabama. Lemuel was a contractor for brickwork. [3]

Lem Beavers and John W. Aldredge of Boaz argued over the interpretation of some bible passages, and then over the sawing of a plank. Lem struck John over the head with a hammer and was sent to jail, to be held until it was seen whether John would survive. [22]

In 1920, Lemuel, aged 22, and Hattie, aged 42, lived in Boaz with their children, Margaret; aged 21; Atla Mae, aged 17; Marvin, aged 14; Mittie, aged 11; Frances, aged nine; and Eugenie, aged five. All the children were born in Alabama. Lemuel was a bricklayer. In 1930 Lemuel, aged 54, and Hattie V., aged 53, lived in Boaz with their daughters France I., aged 18, and Virgina A., aged 15. Lemuel was a retail lumber merchant. In 1940, Lemuel, aged 63, and Hattie, aged 61, lived in Gadsden with their grandson Beaver Morgan. Lemuel was a carpenter, looking for work. [3]

Children of Lemuel Asbury Beaver and Hattie V. Parrish:

I-B-1-f. Bertha Blanche Beaver was born on 22 November 1878. [1][2] She died on 27 August 1913, age 34, and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery. [2] She married Thad ["Jack"?] Lloyd Dorsey, Sr.. [2][29] He married second Mattie D. ___.

In 1920, Jack Lloyd, aged 42, and Mattie B., aged 37, lived in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee with their children Thad L., aged 17 and born in Alabama, and Vela D., aged 15 and born in Alabama. [3]

I-B-1-g. Beatrice Vivian Beaver was born on 20 October 1880. She may have died young, as she does not show up with her parents in the 1880 census. However, the 1900 census says only one of Fadeva's children had died.

I-B-1-h. Cullen Crandall Beaver was born on 5 May 1883 in Collinsville. [1][21] He died on 27 September 1948 in Fulton County, Georgia. [31] He is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery. [2]

According to his World War I draft registration card, on 12 September 1918, Cullen was an a 35-year-old unemployed carpenter living in Birmingham. He was of medium height and build with brown hair and blue eyes. He said his brother R.C. was his nearest relative. [21] Cullen was a soldier in World War I. [32]

In 1930, Cullen, aged 45 and single, was living in the National Military House in Leavenworth, Kansas. [3]

I-B-1-i. Ernest Earl Beaver was born on 19 October 1885. [1] He died on 17 February 1910, age 24, and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery. [12]

Ernest, a printer, formerly of Albertville, died of tuberculosis at his mother's house in Boaz. The Guntersville Democrat reported on 24 February 1910 that his sister Mrs. Bertha Dorsey had been called to Boaz to attend his funeral. [33]
